Bratz facts: There were 3 known doll variants and 9 known box variants for Beach Party. The first few variants were all 2002 Limited Editions and they came with 2 party outfits per doll, 2 pairs of platform tennis shoes, a hat or visor, a beach bag, a pair of sunglasses, and a star that stated “2002 limited edition”. The US releases came with posters. There are only a total of 4 different full outfits because they were reused between all the dolls. For example, the outfit Jade wears in the box is the same as the second outfit Yasmin is packaged with. All of the dolls and their pieces are identical for each variant, but there are 3 different boxes they were sold in. One box is often referred to as the “sandbox” box. This is because the backboard is light blue and the bottom of the box is sandy colored. The other 2 variant boxes have dark blue backboards. One is simply a dark blue version of the “sandbox” box, but the other is a thinner box that comes inside a life size clear plastic beach bag.
The next few variants were also 2002 Limited Editions and came with one party outfit, one bikini, one pair of platform tennis shoes, one pair of platform sandals, a hat or visor, a beach bag, a towel, and a pair of sunglasses. The US releases came with posters. Like the first set of variants, there were a limited number of outfits between all of the dolls. Only one variant came with the star that stated “2002 limited edition”. It has a dark blue backboard. Another variant with the dark blue backboard was released and is nearly identical to the previous variant. However, it does not come with a towel or the 2002 limited edition star. The last 2 variants were distributed by Bandai in Europe. Both have light blue boxes with a “sun” behind the dolls. One variant has both the characters’ names and icons on the outside of the boxes, whereas the other only has the characters’ icons.
The last 2 variants were not limited editions. They came with two bikinis, one pair of platform sandals, one pair of tennis shoes, a towel, a pair of sunglasses, a beach bag, and several brand new accessories. The US release came with posters and the Toy of the Year sticker. The bikinis they came with were the same as the ones seen with the last set of variants. Like all the other Beach Party dolls, there were only 4 full outfits between all of the dolls. One variant had dark blue backboards. The other had light blue backboards with a “sun” behind the dolls. This variant was distributed in Europe by Bandai.
The dolls are all the same among the several releases for this line and, like the Second Edition dolls, use the same face screening and makeup as the First Edition dolls. However, the Beach Party dolls have the shortest hair between all 3 lines.
Miniature versions of some of the clothes and shoes were included with the Lil’ Bratz Fashion Totes in 2004.
